WHEN PSYCHOLOGY BECOMES A TOOL OF DEFAMATION: A REALITY CHECK

Topic: Cognitive Ethics and the Corruption of Interpretive Power
I. REDEFINING THE TRUE PSYCHOLOGIST
What is a psychologist?
A psychologist is not a judge of consciousness nor a labeler of souls. A true psychologist uses compassion and ethics as their guiding principles. They employ knowledge to build trust, helping individuals find peace and freedom within themselves.
Ethical practice:
Each person is a unique universe. A psychologist’s task is to listen and empathize, not to impose labels or nicknames according to personal will.
II. DEFIANCE UNDER THE GUISE OF "ACADEMIA"
Naming is an act of ownership. When parents name a child, it is an act of love and creation. But when Carl Jung imposed terms such as Shadow, Narcissism, or Collective Unconscious on a person, it constitutes defamation of the individual.
Unethical scrutiny:
When someone labels a suffering person as “containing darkness,” they are not helping—they are insulting that person’s lived experience.
Sociological evidence:
According to Labeling Theory, negative labels create stigma, affecting individuals’ cognition and social integration over the long term. In today’s digitized society, terms like “toxic,” “narcissist,” or “unhealed” are often applied indiscriminately, causing psychological pressure and diminishing self-awareness (Cognitive Zombies).
III. QUESTIONING CREDIBILITY: WHAT AUTHORITY DID JUNG CLAIM?
Compassion: Anyone who labels another person without their consent lacks compassion.
Educational authority: A person who has lost basic ethical respect for another’s dignity has no right to instruct society.
Intellectual hubris:
Under what authority did Jung teach? None. He self-styled as a “deity” standing above the lived struggles of ordinary people. When psychological theory becomes a tool for unethical scrutiny, it betrays humanity.
IV. MODERN IMPACT
1. Digital society & social media:
Language labels are used as soft weapons, imposed on individuals without consent, harming cognition and social life.
2. Interpretive power from academia & media:
Experts and influencers sometimes assign labels based on fragmented observations, without lived experience. This behavior mirrors unethical imposition of Jungian Shadow.
3. Real experiences of the labeled:
People cannot contest these labels because society treats them as “scientific truth,” demonstrating a violation of cognitive ethics and the right to self-identification.
V. COMBINED ANALYSIS
True psychologists: Conduct research, support cognition, and do not impose labels without consent.
Cognitive-social ethics: Respect the right to self-identification, personal experience, and life consequences.
Labeling without consent: Unethical, inhumane, and creates unbalanced interpretive authority.
VI. CONCLUSION: RETURN THE NAME TO THE INDIVIDUAL
Those who have been “labeled” for years need liberation. You are not a Shadow, nor anyone’s “psychological problem.” You are a human being with a precious name given by your parents.
Final message:
Carl Jung provided the concept of the Shadow for personal self-discovery, not as a justification to impose labels on others. Anyone who imposes labels, whether intentionally or academically, must reassess their cognitive ethics and social responsibility.
